About Producers Direct
Producers Direct is an award-winning non-profit organisation led by smallholder farmers for smallholder farmers. We are building a Global Cooperative — an ecosystem owned and governed by farmers — that connects smallholders across Latin America and East Africa to data-driven services, including information, agronomic advice, and access to finance.
By strengthening this farmer-led network, we are enabling smallholders to build resilient and profitable livelihoods while shaping a more inclusive and sustainable agricultural future.
Purpose of the Role
- The Fundraising and Communications Manager will lead efforts to secure and manage funding from international donors and partners while strengthening Producers Direct’s communications strategy and visibility. The role combines
- strategic fundraising leadership with storytelling and content coordination that highlights the impact of our farmer-led model.
- The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to work independently in a remote environment, and will bring a proven track record of securing six- or seven-figure grants from international donors.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising (Approx. 80%)
- Lead the design and implementation of Producers Direct’s fundraising strategy across Latin America and East Africa.
- Identify and pursue new funding opportunities from bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations, and private sector partners.
- Develop compelling proposals, concept notes, decks, and letters of interest, working collaboratively with global teams.
- Manage donor relationships, ensuring effective communication and high-quality reporting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and pipeline information.
- Support cross-regional collaboration on global proposals and donor engagement.
Communications (Approx. 20%)
- Coordinate the collection and production of stories, interviews, and audiovisual materials that communicate Producers Direct’s impact, as needed.
- Manage Producers Direct’s institutional LinkedIn profile, sharing stories and updates aligned with the organisation’s tone and values.
- Work with programme teams to identify and amplify farmer stories, results, and learnings.
- Contribute to the development and alignment of Producers Direct’s communications, fundraising, and impact storytelling strategies.
- Serve as the main point of contact, when needed, for coordinating with external communications teams, designers, and content creators to ensure the quality and consistency of materials.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, or partnerships management in an international or non-profit organisation.
- Proven track record of securing 6–7 figure funding from international donors (bilateral, foundation, or corporate).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality written materials (proposals, reports, success stories).
- Experience developing and managing communications content for digital platforms, ideally LinkedIn.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently across time zones.
- Familiarity with international development issues, especially sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and smallholder livelihoods, is a plus.
